Inspiration

Inspiration is a main ingredient in songwriting.  Inspiration can show itself anywhere. I find it in nature, a phrase, a laugh and the bible.  Sometimes that inspiration quickly turns into a song.  Most times I find I need to dig deeper.  The best thing is to stay tuned in.  Live in the moment and pay attention.  Inspiration may be right there waiting for you to notice.

Practicing

I have started practicing playing and singing my new songs for Crazy Good.  Often when I am working with Tony my producer in the studio we may change melody, tempo etc while recording.  Once we are finished I have to go back and learn to play any changes.  This cd took me 3 years to write.  I literally had to go back and refresh myself on some of them.
It is really exciting sitting down and reliving the songs and absorbing all the lyrics again.  I am bad about rewriting.  I have to make sure I am practicing the write version.  To me the lyrics have to be perfect.  That is one of the reasons I rewrite quite a bit.
Off to practice.   I can't wait for everyone to hear the songs.

Hello,
Today I was thinking about over coming fear.  It seems like once you have faced fear.  It was not really that big of a deal.
As a song writer it is very important that I can play and sing to get my songs out there.  I was scared to death. The first few times I played my guitar I hid behind the piano where no one could see me. I finally got in front of the mic.  I was shaking so bad I could hardly play.  Now I get nervous but I play in different venues in front of all kinds of people.
If I had never faced that fear my songs would not have been heard.  There are many lives that would not have been touched by the wonder of God's love.

Notice I didn't plunge myself into playing in front of a lot of people.  I took it a step at a time.  That is the approach I continue to take.  It works and my fears turned into victories.

Music before the battle

Yesterday made me think about battles.  For thousand upon thousand of years everywhere people have had to fight for their freedom, lands and/or family.  Today we also have personal battles as well.
In the book of Psalms it talks about the singers and music going before the armies with songs and praise.   That is what we should always do is start every battle with song and praise.

The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; Among them were the maidens playing timbrels. (‭Psalms‬ ‭68‬:‭25‬ NKJV)

"Crazy Good" on its way!

Hello,
I am very excited to announce that I have just finished my 3rd CD called "Crazy Good".  I am planning on releasing a single first and not the whole Cd.  Each song has a very special message and I want each one to get special attention.  What I have found from my previous Cd's is that God has designed different songs for each individual.  Unlike a lot of CDs that have one hit.  It is amazing how everyone has a complelety different song they love.  I am truly humbled by the feedback and the lives the music has touched.

I will keep everyone updated on the process as well.  Maybe my learnings will help others.

Notes page one

Have you ever done something in your life not really knowing that it would change everything and open many new things?   That is exactly what happened to me the night that I prayed asking God to provide me with a way to bless him back.  It all started at 4am when I woke up with a song blazing through my brain.  A song I've never heard.  I did what any normal person would do I tried to go back to sleep.  The song got louder and I got my notebook and wrote down the words.  I got my guitar and started putting cords together rewriting lyrics and 2.5 hours later wrote my first song.
The answer to my prayer I found: to bless God back I was going to be a Spiritual Singer Song Writer and bring messages of hope, peace and light to others.
So 9 years ago my journey began.  The first of  those years I spent writing, hiding behind pianos when I performed or just playing in my bedroom.  God was holding my hand all the way gently guiding me forward.  Guiding me to Nashville to get sent right back home.  Guiding me to SongU with Sara Light and Danny Arena to improve lyric writing and composing.  Guiding me to writing and releasing my first cd "Difference"  Putting me out there for live permances, radio, TV shows and leading Womans Worship conferences.   All from a little prayer and Im so glad I prayed it.
Im looking forward to sharing the rest of this journey with you and getting to know everyone. Im excited to see what doors this opens and wonderful experiences lie ahead.
